The Handy Hollow

Our Social-Emotional Room is thoughtfully designed to help children build the skills they need to understand themselves, form healthy relationships, and regulate their emotions. In this space, we provide structured lessons that introduce key social-emotional concepts—such as self-awareness, empathy, problem-solving, and cooperation. These lessons are then reinforced through guided and free play, giving children real opportunities to practice what they’ve learned in meaningful, natural ways.

We have been intentional in the design of this room, creating both academic learning areas and designated play areas. This structure ensures that children understand the difference between school and daycare—helping them recognize that school is a place for learning while still providing the freedom to explore, create, and play. By balancing structured instruction with purposeful play, we prepare children to enter kindergarten with confidence, knowing that learning can be both fun and meaningful.
